Hidden Leak Detection — Forster and the NSW North Coast

The leak you can't find

Sometimes the symptoms are obvious — high water bill, damp patch, sound of running water — but the leak itself is hiding. Another plumber's been and given up. You've done your own investigation and gotten nowhere. This is the work specialist leak detection equipment was designed for.

AVP takes on the cases other plumbers refer out. The harder the find, the more useful our combination of thermal imaging, acoustic detection, pressure testing, and tracer gas becomes.

Our diagnostic approach

Specialist hidden leak work is part equipment, part method. We work systematically: isolate the section of plumbing the leak is on using pressure testing; narrow the location using thermal and acoustic; pinpoint with tracer gas if needed. Each step rules out a layer of possibilities. The leak might be hidden, but it can't hide from all the methods at once.

Common hidden leak questions

Q: What if you still can't find the leak?

A: It's very rare. In the few situations where we can't pinpoint a leak on the first visit, we'll explain what we've ruled out, what equipment we'd need to bring back, and how we'd recommend proceeding. You only pay for the work done.

Q: How is this different from regular water leak detection?

A: It's the same equipment and the same methods, just applied to the hardest cases. The page exists for people specifically searching for 'I can't find my leak' — the searches that imply someone has already had a regular plumber out and the problem isn't solved.
