Traditional drain cabling has its place — but for most modern drainage work, hydro jetting is the better tool. A high-pressure water jet doesn't just punch a hole through the blockage; it scours the entire pipe wall clean, cuts through tree roots, removes mineral and grease build-up, and leaves the drain genuinely clear rather than temporarily flowing.
AVP uses commercial-grade hydro jetting equipment paired with our HD CCTV cameras, so we can see the pipe condition first, jet appropriately, and verify the result.

Why we CCTV first & how long does it last?
Why we CCTV first
Hydro jetting on a sound pipe is the most effective drain cleaning method available. Hydro jetting on a fragile, cracked or collapsed pipe can make things worse. That's why every significant hydro jetting job at AVP starts with a CCTV inspection to confirm the pipe is in good enough condition to take the pressure. If it isn't, we recommend the right alternative — usually a spot repair followed by jetting.
How long does the result last?
Because hydro jetting cleans the whole pipe wall rather than just punching through, results typically last far longer than cabling. For drains with recurring issues — kitchen grease, tree roots — we'll often recommend an annual or six-monthly maintenance jet to prevent the problem rebuilding. For one-off blockages, a single hydro jet usually solves it.
Common drain cleaning questions
Q: Is hydro jetting safe for my pipes?
A: On sound pipes, yes — we adjust pressure to the pipe material and condition. That's why we always CCTV first. We've never damaged a pipe by jetting a drain we've already inspected.
Q: How much does hydro jetting cost?
A: Most residential hydro jetting jobs in the Forster area will need a bespoke quote, with final pricing depending on the length of pipe, severity of the blockage, and whether tree root cutting is needed. Written quote sent before we start.
Q: Will hydro jetting clear tree roots permanently?
A: It clears them, but it doesn't stop them coming back through the same gap in the pipe. For permanent prevention we usually recommend a follow-up spot repair or pipe relining at the location where the roots are entering.
